Cell Phone Opinion

I am going to need a new Celly. As I can now no longer run a proxy on my workstation and proxy IM @ IRC through port 80, well I am thinking of getting a phone that will allow folks it contact me and allow me to lurk in IRC channles. Does anyone have any thought, experiences or opinions on this using a phone for this type of service?

Make sure that whatever plan you get regardless of carrier that you have unlimited internet and txt messages. I have actually seen a person get a bill for over a grand because their kid had AIM on his phone. Its a charge for every transaction up and down.
