In the "for those that care department"....

Just got off the phone with their consumer information/affairs/whatever department....

Arnold Milken, the creator and main writer of the show at HBO is involved in another project and HBO isn't sure how much time he will have available for the 4th season of Deadwood. They want to continue it, but just aren't sure at this point. They have allowed the actors to pursue other projects until they have a clearer picture of Milkens intentions.

While very successful for HBO, it doesn't have the massive audience that Sopranos has, so its not a situation where they would be crazy to take it off the air. If the creator feels he has said what he needs to, its not like a TV show where there is a competent #2 guy to step up. Its like a small business where the success rides on the back of its founder.

Bottom line, they want to continue it, but until the creator decides what he wants to do (continue or new project), they have no 4th season booked.

Yea, the Vitto thing seems like their trying to capitalize on the popular gayness on TV lately. I didn't really like Rome but Deadwood is my favorite show on TV. HBO rocks. I'm curious what this "other project" the Deadwood creator is interested in, is.

I liked Rome. One reason was because it had a Start and a Finsh. Lots of these shows they drag out IMHO just because. Deadwood should "end" when it gets sucked into the territories and real law and order comes rolling in. Continuing on after that wouldn't be any good.

Sopranos also should "conclude" per say. I mean the "bad guys" eventually get caught!

Showtime killing Dead Like Me was a crime!! Great show the bastards!!!

Never saw "Dead Like Me". Good point about Deadwood, but I tend to think there was lawlessness for many years before it quieted down. Sopranos may go a few more seasons if it stays so popular.
