Wanted to express my thanks to the small group I was in last night that applied a reality check to the Alliance in Redridge Mountains last night. I'm not normally a huge fan of PvP...but last evening may serve to remedy that.
Short story, 4 of us rode overland to Redridge (which is supposed to be a contested area...but you wouldn't know it from the absolute lack of a Horde presence there) and proceded to wreak holy hell on the delightful, picture-postcard, bucolic town of Lakeshire (and surrounding environs).
In a nutshell, 2 mages, a rogue and a warrior managed to occupy the attention of several times our number of Alliance characters (not to mention an ungodly number of very aggressive NPC's) for the better part of 2 hours before we decided to depart due to the late hour.
I must say, it seems to be somewhat easier to be an Alliance character on Darkspear than it is Horde. It must be nice to have a "contested area" to quest and level up in with a pretty much solid guarantee that you won't have to look over your shoulder for the other side. Judging from the reactions of the Alliance we encountered you'd guess that Horde had never set foot on that map much less did anything to remind people why it was labelled "contested".
That and the abundance of fuzzy bunnies as mobs...nice rough questing area there. :D

It's funny that you posted this, cause I was grinding in the marsh last night when some of the CkB's mentioned that Xroads was getting looted. I joined up and for 40 min we pvp's right next to a graveyard. I died allot but got some legit HK's I think I went from 5 HK points to 40 in like 40 min. It was a nice change of pace.

Damn Euro...wish I had been that rogue. Sounds like you all had fun! Hopefully I will be able to join you on your next run. It is fun riding through the towns that are so fluffy white and cute and then seeing the alliance stop. You know they are looking around for the best place to hide or to make sure they didn't walk into the wrong area. It's not something they expect but maybe something they better get used to if you get a hair across your ass to PVP!
Yea, redridge is strange, its contested for the alliance, but as far as I know, there are no horde quests there at all. Same with Darkshire I think. Now I'm wondering if we have any contested zones without any alliance quests?

Wetlands is the same way... Alliance contested area with no Horde presence or quests...
Blizzard also made it impossible for equivalent level Horde to get to those areas, since they would have to pass through areas over-leveled for them. Duskwood (lvl 18-30) and Redridge (lvl 15-25) requires a run through STV (lvl 30-45)... and there's no reward for Horde for going there... except maybe a gratuitous map discovery for 70XP each...
It's Blizzard Day Care! What was funny was riding down a road and seeing all the skeletons..... all alliance lowbies that got killed by lvl 18 spiders.

You know, I forget who made the observation last evening...but as we're riding through this alleged "contested" area, which is in reality, Alliance territory...I observed the prevalence of the mobs (not all that thick) and the level difficulty of them (not all that high).
Mind you, I know this is contested territory and it's meant for levels 15-25...but it was a joke compared to where the Horde has to quest around the same levels. We have the Barrens, Stonetalon, and maybe Hillsbrad...and I've never known any of those places to be as empty of Alliance as Redridge and Duskwood are of Horde...nor have mobs that could legally park in the blue parking spaces like the ones found in Redridge.
Anyway, I mentioned this observation last evening and someone suggested that the reason is that people want to be Alliance more than Horde so they basically "tard-down" the Alliance areas to satisfy their less ambitious gaming nature...or something to that effect.
I mean, really, what could be less challenging than choosing Alliance and then choosing to be a palladin? Play on the cushy side with the "character-who-can-do-everything" and get to quest in the Fisher Price areas of the world unmolested?
Did I mention I hate palladins? :D

Hehe, having played an alliance toon to lvl 60 on a highly populated server, where the horde was extremely strong....I would say you have whats known as "faction bias". :) Believe me, the alliance are saying how easy we have it all the time.
Many would argue Shamans are equal to pallys any day of the week....and, boy do they hate undead. Now that everyone will have the PvP "Fear" trinkets, its not such an issue, but WotF was a real pain to the alliance.

Being an Alliance on a high poop server would be a pain...
The areas are small... which means the MoBs in those areas would be dead 3/4 of the time...
Waiting for MoBs to re-spawn would be a big pain in the ass... grinding-wise...
Horde has the Barrens... huge... lots of MoBs... but only lvl 10-25... after that, everything above that is contested... unless you're PvE... in which case, all you have to worry about is dead NPC's that you can't turn quests in to.
Our server here in Darkspear has an alliance unbalance, but I'm guessing Blizzard won't be micro-managing every individual server... so we have to suck it up... and just bitch amongst ourselves.
The funniest thing I've seen a lvl 60 Shaman do is plant totems around the rez area after killing some lowbie alliance corpses... talk about getting griefed... Ressurect, and get hit by fire totems and slow totems... That was actually very entertaining to watch.
But thankfully, a quick dispel magic was able to tard down that level 60 Pally that was camping us... and we were able to get an HK:Master Sergeant off that toon... once...
-----------edit
Horde DOES have some contested areas that Alliance has quests in, but you don't see much of them since there's no Alliance town there... Swamp of Sorrows, Feralas (too far away) is another, and Badlands is like that too... But the Alliance Badlands quests are also near Kargath... so you will see equivalent level Alliance in the same places you are at.
Hey Wez, you gotta do Zul-Farak? We have some guys that still need to get the carrot on the stick, and it'd be nice to have another healer around if we decide to do another run with one or two of the highers that know the instance. I'm told that we can run through that thing in an hour or two... I'm trying to muster them up this week at some point... and there are 5 ZF quests in my log waiting or that night....

that run was flipping awesome! we had each and every one of those lowby allis(ateast 20 of them) killed 3+ times. and even when they had 3 60s on us we still put up an awesome fight. i advise we should do this once a week atleast, to keep those suckers humbled and scared, and give them a real reason to hate the horde. and if you got some extra time on your hands, i also advise that you would take but half an hour out of your lay time to ride thru these 'contested' areas. even one horde above 40 can do massive amounts of damage and cause lots of grief. keep em reminded that these are suppost to be "contested"
hahahahaha
death to the alliance.

We are not that outnumbered on this server. Not comparied to some others. I don't think its as close to 1.5 to 1 as people would think, but its not 3 to 1 or anything

Even if we were greatly outnumbered, I would welcome it. I've always been the underdog type. The fun is overcoming the challenge.
Mack,
Shoot me a tell next time you see me on, I still need the carrot and I can pickup the troll temper quest from Gadgetzan before we do ZF, so that would be two quests I could finish up.

Yea, I still need this too. However, I won't be around until probably Friday or Saturday. I'll possibly be available tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. Make sure Nuck doesn't get rid of that hammer. :)

If I'm on tonight I'll see if I can hook up wich ya'll for some tanking goodness...however, it's not looking promising right now.
Here in my neck of Jawja the forecast is for clear with a wife agg front approaching starting this evening. Chance of wife agg 0% today, 60% tonight. Wife agg may be violent at times so listeners are advised to duck and cover. The complete 5 day forecast is coming up...
:D
Lol, classic. Gotta build up the wife faction bro. I play every other day...keeps the wife threat low and gives me a good amount of rested xp to work with.

I feel for you guys I really do. Too bad more wives don't play WOW, then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

I vaguely remember that as something we used to do together in College, and a few times when we got bored at home... Somehow, 3 kids were the by-product... and that increased the amount of begging that was necessary to initiate an encounter.

It is the myth created by men that still remember dating. They think the same magic that girded our loins when we were 21 can once again inhabit this empty vessel of a maried life. But we know different you and I :D
