Here are some things that have helped me along my travels since I bought the game in March. I thought I would post these, and maybe others can reply with some helpful things that have helped them along the way. And those who are newer can have a feast of information.

TTH Search (http://download.tentonhammer.com/tthsearch/setup.exe) - A one stop search util for all that is WoW.
Ten Ton Hammer wrote this small always updating utility you download and run outside of the game. It searches Thottbot, Allakhazam, Goblin Workshop, Google, Yahoo and some other sites and returns only WoW related information. You can sort by Quests, Info, NPC's etc.
Game Pressure Maps (http://wow.gamepressure.com/index.asp) - Great map site + some zone related & quest info.
Talent Templates (http://wowvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Templates.List) @ IGN's WoW Vault - View and rate others templates as well as generate your own.
Tradeskill Trainer List (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=361&mid=110667564515758&TthServerId=) - @ Allakhazam - Shows every NPC trainer or Quest with map locations and other details to advance. All in a organized table sorted by each profession.
Character History (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charhistory.php) @ WarcraftRealms.Com - Look up info on peoples toons based on the gathered census info. Its really fun for looking up that boon you made fun of and laughing at him for say having 10 guilds under his name cause he always gets kicked out.
Hunter Pet Info (http://www.goodintentionsguild.info/hunters.html)
Add-Ons
SLoc (http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=637) - Add on that allows /loc #,# with a compass style arrow pointing in the direction of your Location.
Flight Path (http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=710) - You can type a command that loads all Horde or Alliance (or both) flight paths so that you can view them in a window or by mousing over a boot icon that shows on the map where each flight related NPC is. Lists all flights for that location, the length of the flight and the price of the flight from that location. Shows for all public transport.
